JEFFERSON - As storms pounded parts of Georgia Monday afternoon and evening, Jackson EMC sent some help to storm damaged areas of the state late in the evening.

Officials dispatched a line crew and released four Pike Electric contract crews to parts of central and west Georgia, according to Jackson EMC.

“We were carefully monitoring both weather conditions and our system, and once we were in the clear, we were ready to help those who needed it," Director, Operations Services Dwayne Ansley said.

They got the call for help around 11:30 p.m.

The four Pike Crews, comprised of 28 workers, went to assist with restoration efforts at Central Georgia EMC, while a Jackson EMC crew of eight took a convoy of five vehicles from Lawrenceville to Carroll EMC west of Atlanta.

Locally, Ansley said Jackson EMC had several hundred of its approximately 200,000 customers without power at times during the storms.
