Winder man busted for stealing guns

WINDER - A 22-year-old Winder man was arrested Tuesday and charged with burglary, felony theft and damage to property in connection with the theft of $5,000 in firearms from a Statham man.

Kyle Morgan Jones had visited the victim's home at an earlier date, according to a report in the Athens Banner Herald.

Jones returned when the victim was away, but neighbors gave Barrow County authorities the license plate number of a vehicle they saw parked near the victim s home.

After Jones arrest, investigators searched his Gainesville Highway home and recovered stolen merchandise, including coins, but were unable to locate the weapons.

The investigation and the search for the stolen guns is ongoing.
