Damage minor in Commerce house fire

COMMERCE - Firefighters were able to prevent major damage to a Commerce home when they responded to a fire there Wednesday night.

Jackson County Emergency Services Director Steve Nichols said the blaze was on the front porch of a house at 95 Georgia Avenue and had spread into the residence.

There were no injuries reported. The Commerce Fire Department is looking for the cause.

Units from Commerce, Nicholson, and Jackson County Correctional Institute Fire Departments worked the 7:50 p.m. blaze.
