CUMMING - Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s great grandson is travelling to Forsyth County next week to deliver a special invitation.

Former Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Duncan Sandys is to invite The Lambert High School "Stampede" Marching Band to participate in the 29th New Year’s Day Parade & Festival in London in January 2015.

The highly prestigious turn of year tradition is billed as the biggest of its kind in the world. More than 10,000 performers from all corners of the globe entertain a street audience of around 500,000 – and a global TV audience of tens of millions.

The Lord Mayor will be accompanied by Executive Director of the parade Robert Bone and Jonathan Whaley, Director of International Participation.

At the age of 35 Lord Mayor Sandys was the youngest person to achieve the high office.
