DAHLONEGA - Rose Procter has been selected as director for the BB&T Center for Ethical Business Leadership at the University of North Georgia (UNG), and will guide the center in its mission to provide resources and education toward business ethics.
The BB&T Center for Ethical Business Leadership was established in 2012 with a $1 million gift from BB&T Corp. to UNG's Mike Cottrell College of Business and is focused on serving as a catalyst for ethical thought, analysis and engagement in the north Georgia region.
Previously, Procter was director of community relations and administration for Kennesaw State University's first Doctor of Philosophy program. She helped launch the successful program, which now has more than 40 doctoral students, 12 program faculty and staff, and more than 25 domestic and international strategic and community partners.
At UNG, Proctor will be responsible for the center's work in facilitating critical thinking in ethical leadership through its curriculum, research and professional development, according to Dr. Donna Mayo, dean of the Mike Cottrell College of Business.
"Throughout her career, Rose has excelled in building collaborative partnerships and programs, and we're confident she will utilize those skills in leading our BB&T Center for Ethical Business Leadership," Mayo said.
Procter said she looks forward to working with public schools, businesses, Chambers of Commerce, and UNG faculty, staff and students in creating programs to develop ethical thought and leadership skills.
"There are a number of projects we will be developing to meet continuing education requirements of various professional groups, as well as working collaboratively with schools and other organizations to provide on-going classes and seminars in ethical business leadership," Procter added.
Prior to KSU, Procter was executive director for the International Center for Psychosocial Trauma (ICPT) at the University of Missouri-Columbia's School of Medicine. Procter helped establish the center, assisted in launching numerous new sustainable initiatives—both academically and community-based—and helped lead more than 30 domestic and international humanitarian projects in the United States and around the world.
Procter graduated from Park University in Kansas City, Mo., with a Bachelor of Science in organizational social psychology and earned her Master of Business Administration degree from KSU.
