Tennis: War Eagles shut out Johnson

GAINESVILLE -- The Chestatee boys tennis team swept Johnson 5-0 Tuesday night to earn its first Region 8B-AAAA.

Jonathan Cook took a 6-0, 6-0 win over Cameron Kinser at No.1 singles and the War Eagles No. 1 doubles team of Blaine Brown and Juan Carrion remained undefeated (5-0) on the season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Johnson’s Caleb Herrin and Bradley Barker.

Chestatee’s Jeremiah Reed topped Jacob Holland 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Teddy Werner came from a set down at No. 3 singles to beat Johnson’s Grayson Anthony 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The War Eagles completed the sweep at No. 2 doubles as Reed Johnson and Casey Atkins defeated the Knights’ Man Chung and James Butcher 6-2, 6-0.
