Authorities release victims' identities in Forsyth crash

CUMMING - A Dawsonville man and a Cumming woman have been identified as the victims of a fatal two car crash in Forsyth County Tuesday morning.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash happened on Highway 53 in the area of Westbrook and Porter Roads.

A car, headed east on 53 (Dawsonville Highway) went into the westbound lane and hit another car, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The drivers, Shane Michael Thurmond, 42, of Dawsonville and Valerie Jean Martin, 29, of Cumming died in the crash. There were no passengers in either vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.

Troopers said the collision happened around 9:00 a.m.
