Jackson County duo arrested on multiple drug chargesBy Derreck Booth Editor JEFFERSON - The Jackson County Sheriff's Office Monday released details of a Friday search warrant that resulted in two arrests and the seizure of drugs, cash, ATV's and surveillance equipment.
According to Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum, Zachery Ray Hix and Ashley Lee Tumlin, both of Nicholson, face charges in the case. The sheriff's office and the Commerce Police Department served the warrant following what Mangum described as a lengthy criminal investigation on tips about drug activity. Authorities said undercover investigators purchased illegal drugs from Hix and Tumlin. Investigators said they seized drugs, cash, materials used for illegal drug activity, several four wheelers and an abundance of surveillance equipment. Hix is charged with three counts of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, three counts of the sale of methamphetamine, three counts of possession of methamphetamine, possession of schedule ll drug, possession of schedule lll drug, possession of schedule lV drug, possession of tools for the commission of a crime and possession of marijuana less than an ounce. Tumlin is charged with three counts of party to the crime of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, two counts of party to the crime of the sale of methamphetamine, possession of schedule ll drug, possession of schedule lll drug, possession of schedule lV drug, three counts of party to the crime of possession of methamphetamine, one count of possession of methamphetamine and party to the crime of possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
