Man faces drug/other charges after brief chase

GAINESVILLE - A 34 year old Gainesville man faces a list of charges following his arrest by drug and sheriff's authorities in Hall County Sunday.

According to Multi Agency Narcotics Squad Lt. Scott Ware, Omali Gaidi Cotton was arrested on I-985 north of exit 8 or Friendship Road.

A Hall County Sheriff's Office Deputy arrested Cotton after a brief vehicle and foot chase.

Cotton was allegedly found with two plastic baggies, each holding about 12 ounces of marijuana. According to Ware, it's worth about $2400 on the street.

Cotton is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and felony possession of marijuana.

He faces traffic charges including speeding, reckless driving,
misdemeanor obstruction, fleeing and eluding, suspended license and no proof of insurance.

Authorities said he had an arrest warrant out of White County.

He was booked into the Hall County Jail.
