Golf: Gainesville girls storm to Spring Swing win

The Gainesville girls golf team won the 2013 Lady Warrior Spring Swing, hosted by White County, on Saturday in Cleveland.

The Lady Red Elephants claimed the title by 13 strokes over Brookwood High School and a host of other teams at Mossy Creek Golf Course. The Lady Red Elephants were the only team to post four scores in the 80s.

Gainesville was led by Madeline Harr with an 83, which placed third as an individual. Meg Callahan added an 85 (fourth) and Morgan Reece shot an 88 (fifth).

The tournament's low medalist was Haley Austin from Ola with a 78.

Gainesville will play in the Hall County Championships on Monday and Tuesday at Royal Lakes Country Club. Play begins at 4 p.m.
