Baseball: Big inning propels Dragons past East Jackson

JEFFERSON -- Jefferson used a seven-run first inning to take the lead and then cruised to a 10-0 win over East Jackson in five innings Wednesday.

Jake Franklin got the win for the Dragons (6-1) allowing just two hits and fanning eight in 4 ⅓ innings. Taylor Wilkes got the final two outs nfor Jefferson.

Jefferson sent 13 batters to the plate in the first inning, taking advantage of three East Jackson errors. Max Ford, Trent Sorrells, Jacob Page, Franklin, Drew Carson, and Hannon Price each drove in runs in the inning.

The Dragons scored two runs in the third and one in the fifth to invoke the Mercy Rule.

Carson, Ford, and Sorrells each finished with two hits as part of an 11-hit attack for Jefferson.

Brandon Brown and Colton Puckett each had one hit for East Jackson.

Jefferson next will travel to Greene County for a Region 8-AA double-header on Friday.
