GAINESVILLE - A recently retired Hall County School employee has been arrested and charged with felony Theft by Conversion.
Ricky Donald loggins, 48, of Maysville, surrendered himself at the Hall County Jail last night in relation to the charge.
According to investigators, in late February school system officials notified them that an internal audit had uncovered a series of discrepancies in maintenance and repair invoices.
That audit pointed toward the likelihood of wrongdoing by a 31-year employee who had retired from the school system on February 1st.
During the course of the investigation it was determined that from February to December of 2012 Loggins manipulated repair and maintenance contract paperwork, enabling him to obtain excess electrical equipment and supplies.
Loggins then privately sold those materials and is suspected of pocketing more than $55,000. As a result, Investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Loggins was booked into the Hall County Jail, charged with Felony Theft by Conversion.
He is currently free on $5,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Division.
