GAINESVILLE -- The White County boys and Chestatee girls claimed team crowns at the Outback/War Eagle Invitational meet on Saturday at Chestatee in Gainesville.
West Hall’s Maia Caldwell-Booker took first place in the 100 meters with a time of 12.78 seconds. Kristen Mitchell of White County took the top spot in the girl’s 800 with a time of 2, minutes, 35.32 seconds. Chestatee’s Sarah Beth English claimed the 1,600 with a time of 5:38:95, winning by a nine-second margin.
The 3,200 turned into a battle between White County’s Jenna Gearing (reigning Class AAA cross country champion) and Tori Mullinax of Chestatee. Gearing took first with a time of 11:49 and Mullinax was second, setting a school record of 11:55. Meanwhile, the Lady War Eagles' 4x800 relay team smashed the school record at 11:02.
North Hall's Gabby Hoffman also cleared 10 feet to take the pole vault title, and Tiffany Culver claimed discus gold (93.8 feet).
In boy’s action, White County's Caleb Stephenson ran away from the completion with his 51.64 in the 400. North Hall dominated In the 800 and 1,600, as Quinton Miles (2:06:44) and Bryce Schuebert won the respective races. The Trojans also went 1-2-3 in the 3,200 with Witt Nix winning with a time of 9:56:32.
White County's Andrew Bergin won the long jump with a 20-foot leap. And Chestatee’s Marvin Rosario claimed the triple jump (41-4.5).
