LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett County firefighters responded to a residential fire Saturday morning shortly after 10A.M. in the 1900 block of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.

Multiple 911 calls were made by neighbors, some telling dispatchers that it appeared everyone inside the home was able to escape the blaze safely.

Police shut down the busy highway to all traffic as fire crews arrived at the scene.

The fire was mostly on the back side of the house with heavy fire to the carport area on the left side of the single family residence on a crawl space.

No injuries were reported by any of the residents; however, the family dog did perish.

The house suffered extensive damage and three adult occupants were displaced.

The Red Cross was called to assist the residents as the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
