CUMMING - The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office retired one of its K-9 deputies recently with an official ceremony honoring the service of K-9 Deputy Aron and his handler, Deputy First Class C. Scott Goldsberry.

According to Major Paul Taylor, who oversees the K-9 Unit, K-9 Deputy Aron, a male German Shepherd, was purchased by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 27, 2007 using drug seizure funds. Aron is almost eight years old and he is being retired due to some persistent health problems.

“K-9 Deputy Aron has pursued and captured hidden and fleeing perpetrators, retrieved suspects from sheltered positions, detected and identified illegal drugs, contributed to the seizure of ill gotten gains and performed splendidly throughout his distinguished career,” said Major Taylor.

Aron will remain with Goldsberry.
