Soccer: McIntosh wins battle of top-ranked teams

PEACHTREE CITY -- In an early-season battle between the two best teams in Class AAAAA, No. 2 Gainesville was not able to knock off No. 1 McIntosh in boys soccer action Friday night.

McIntosh got a pair of goals and was able to shut down the high-scoring Elephants in a 2-0 win.

Gainesville (4-1-1) came into the game averaging more than three goals a game. McIntosh (6-0) has yet to allow a goal on the season.

Gainesville next will travel to Clarke Central in a Region 8-AAAAA battle.
