GAINESVILLE – Chestatee’s Alexis Rebollar did not seem to miss a beat Friday night despite missing the Lady War Eagles last two games with a concussion.
Rebollar scored two goals and assisted on three others to lead Chestatee to a 6-1 rout of Monroe Area in their Region 8-AAAA home opener.
Sadie Foote recorded a hat-trick with all three goals set up on Rebollar assists. Foote’s first goal came at 33:41 in the first half and Hope Baxter would set up Rebollar eight minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. The goal by Rebollar set a new school record for most goals scored (68).
Five minutes later Monroe cut into the lead to 2-1 on a Hanna Herrmann goal. Rebollar responded scoring with nine minutes left in the first half for a 3-1 halftime lead.
The Chestatee mid-field and defense took over in the second setting up the offense for three more goals. Monroe tried to limit Rebollar with two defenders at all times but she was able to find Foote open in the front of the goal to make it 4-1 midway through the second half. Baxter would score off a Foote corner kick and Foote finished the scoring when Rebollar found her open again in front of the goal.
Chestatee will take a week off before playing host to Eastside next Friday.
