Forsyth's improved Shady Grove Campground re-opens Mar. 25By Staff CUMMING - Forsyth County Parks and Recreation will open Shady Grove Campground for the season March 25 and visitors will find a number of off-season improvements have been made to the facility.
“Shady Grove Campground’s popularity grows each year,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jerry Kinsey. “We look forward to welcoming campers as we officially begin the 2013 camping season in Forsyth County on March 25.” In addition to more than 110 campsites, the 109-acre campground’s amenities include a beach and swim area, boat ramp with courtesy dock, group campsites with picnic shelters, playground, tent camping areas and campsites with water and 30 and 50 amp power hookups. Daily fees for campground use 30 amp electric site with water $26 50 amp electric site with water $28 Tent camping site with no hookups $18 Group camping (north) $155 Group camping (south) $135 Visitor fee $2 Dump station $15 “During the past two camping seasons, our campsite rentals have continued to increase," said Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Tommy Bruce. Forsyth County completed a variety of improvements to Shady Grove Campground prior to the start of the 2011 camping season. These projects included expanded camping pads for larger recreational vehicles, a grassy play area and a shoreline restoration. These improvements were made possible by the Parks, Recreation and Green Space Bond approved by voters in 2008. Shady Grove Campground is located at 7800 Shadburn Ferry Road in Cumming on the shores of Lake Lanier.
