GAINESVILLE - The Drug Free Coalition of Hall County announces that 34 student-created videos addressing substance abuse prevention have been submitted in the 2nd annual Face it… Substance Abuse Prevention Video Contest.

You can vote for your favorite video by visiting the contest page http://www.faceitpeople.org/video-contest. Voting will run from March 4-March 10.

All submitted videos were reviewed and judged in a two-step process prior to being posted on the Coalition website. First, a group of University of Georgia and University of North Georgia students reviewed and narrowed the videos down to the top 20 submissions. Next a panel of celebrity judges selected the top videos from middle and high school students. These are posted to the Coalition website for voting.

Each of the posted videos lists the name of the group, and members of the group submitting the video. The videos are posted as middle school in one column and high school in another.

"I found each and every one of the 34 submitted videos to be so moving that they literally brought tears to my eyes. I am so impressed with the strong, eye-opening messages these youth have taken the time to share with the community. I would like to encourage all members of our community to recognize the talent and efforts put forth by these amazing students by voting for their favorite video(s). Let's show these youth some support and praise them for their decision to remain drug free!" - Lauren Markovich, Coalition Intern.

The Coalition focuses its prevention efforts on four substances: alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and prescription drug abuse. Students used music, pictures, art, skits, etc. to address one or more of the following topics:

1. The Best Me Is Drug Free.
2. Living Above The Influence of Drugs and Alcohol

First and second place winners will be awarded for both middle and high school video submissions. Winners will be announced and the top ten videos will be shown at the Red Carpet Premier on March 26. Each first place participant will receive a $100 Best Buy gift card; second place winners will each receive a digital camera.

"It is an inspiration to see these youth working hard to show that one can be drug free and still have a good time" – Cody Morrow, Coalition Intern.
