Tennis: Lanier sweeps Chestatee girls

GAINESVILLE -- The Chestatee girls were swept by Lanier Thursday winning just one set against a powerful Lady Longhorns team.

Lanier’s Morgan Buchhotlz, Lauren Byrd and Carlie Overley all won straight set matches in singles over Lily Kiang, Fernanda Arcarez and Lauren McNitt.

Overly defeated McNitt in a tight 7-6, 7-5 match. Chestatee’s lone set came when the No. 1 doubles team of Haley King and Grace Brown won the second set tiebreak in a close 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 loss to Lindsey Wong and Jenna Soucia.

Lanier’s Meg McRee and Victoria Inman completed the sweep at #2 doubles defeating the Lady War Eagle’s Carolina Gijon and Natalie McNitt, 6-1, 6-2.
