Baseball: Gainesville, Gettys dominant in debut

GAINESVILLE -- The Gainesville baseball team opened the 2013 season with a dominating, 10-0 defeat of Shiloh on Thursday in Gainesville.

The Red Elephants (1-0) were led by an overpowering performance from pitcher Michael Gettys, who struck out 10 batters and allowed just one hit in earning the win. Gettys also had one hit and three stolen bases.

Brandon Sewell ripped a three-run home run for Gainesville, while Skyler Weber also belted a home run. Sims Griffith also had two RBIs in the win.

The Red Elephants will travel to face Archer on Monday.
