JEFFERSON - As the people of north Georgia have experienced this year, the severe weather threat is always a possibility, even in Winter.

Banks and Jackson County Emergency Services departments are hosting a class that can help citizens better know the signs of and how to prepare for severe weather.

Meteorologist Barry Gooden of the National Weather Service will present the Storm Spotter Training Class. It will give students an opportunity to become Skywarn volunteers. Those volunteers provide the weather service with reports of severe weather.

The class is scheduled for February 26 at 7:00 p.m. It will be held at the Jackson County Fire Training Center at 64 Fowler Drive, Jefferson.
