Hall County has first confirmed rabies case of 2013By Derreck Booth Editor GAINESVILLE - A raccoon recently tested positive for rabies, marking Hall County's first confirmed case of rabies for 2013.
According to county officials, the raccoon made contact with a dog in the Abercrombie Road area of north Hall County. Hall County officials got word of the Georgia Public Health Lab results Monday. Workers were expected to post positive alert signs in the area where the contact was made. If you live in this area or you see an animal acting abnormally in the area, contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or during non-working hours call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812. Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies. Vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter for $10 Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1688 Barber Road in Gainesville. © Copyright 2013 AccessNorthGa.com
