GAINESVILLE -- East Hall showed that it may be finding its rhythm at the right time on Saturday, knocking off Dawson County 58-47 in the Region 7-AAA boys third place game in Gainesville.

The Vikings entered the contest with two losses to Dawson County this season but took an early lead and held on throughout, including in the fourth quarter when the Tigers pulled within 41-40.

Triston Cooper scored a career-high 18 points to pace East Hall (13-15), which will enter the state tournament next week, traveling to face St. Pius, the No. 2 seed from Region 6-AAA.

Brian Edwards also scored 14 for the Vikings.

Jonathan Sanderson scored 13 for Dawson County, while Tyler Dominy added 12. Jackson Putnam also scored 10, including nine if the fourth quarter -- all on 3-pointers -- the barrage trimmed a 38-31 deficit to 41-40, but the Vikings responded with a 13-2 run that sealed the contest at 54-42 with two minutes remaining.

Dawson County (21-7) enters the state playoffs as the No. 4 seed from 7-AAA and will travel to take on 6-AAA champ Woodward Academy.

WHITE COUNTY 24

The Lady Rebels (10-17) held White County to just two first quarter points and then dominated the third quarter to grab the No. 3 seed from Region 7-AAA on Saturday in Gainesville.
