NWS adds wind chill alert
By Ken Stanford Staff
PEACHTREE CITY - The National Weather Service (NWS) has added an alert for "cold wind chill values" to the Wind Advisory and a Hazardous Weather Outlook it posted earlier Saturday for north Georgia.
In addition, it has scaled back the area of the state where snow was likely - moving it back to the area north of a line from Carrollton-to-Atlanta-to-Gainesville, Earlier in the day, the snow watch area had extended as far south as the Macon area.
The forecast still calls for an inch or less in the higher elevations with "little or no" accumulation elsewhere. At the lower elevations, the snow is likely to be mixed with rain, according to the NWS.
As for the wind chills, the NWS says they will drop into the single-digits and teens across north Georgia Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
