BETHLEHEM One bad quarter cost the Flowery Branch girls from a shot at the Region 8-AAAAA title.

The Lady Falcons were outscored 20-9 in the third quarter by Salem and eventually 57-47 in the region semifinals Friday night at the Apalachee gym.

The loss drops Flowery Branch (23-4) into the third place game against Cedar Shoals on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Apalachee.

Flowery Branch led 10-9 after the first period and took 24-23 lead into halftime. But the Lady Seminoles used the big third quarter to jump out to a 43-33 lead and then held off the Lady Falcons in the fourth quarter.
