Gainesville celebrates Arbor DayBy Ken Stanford Staff GAINESVILLE - Arbor Day was celebrated in Gainesville Friday with the planting of a Weeping Maple at the Frances Meadows Aquatic & Community Center.
Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce officials says the tree was a replacement for one planted in that area and died last summer. City officials point out that Gainesville has been named a Tree City for the 26th year. Also on hand were the students who are this year's Arbor Day Art & Essay Contest winners, who were announced a few d Alys ago. ( See earlier story. Link below.)
