Former HCSB member dies; also had close ties to UNG
By Ken Stanford Staff
GAINESVILLE - The funeral will be held Friday in Gainesville for a Murrayville man with close, longtime ties to the University of North Georgia (UNG), who was also a former member of the Hall County School Board.
W. Arnold Hulsey, 81, died at his home Monday due to complications from diabetes.
Hulsey served in the Marine Corps and saw active military service in the Korean War as a sergeant.
Afterward he enrolled at North Georgia College (now the University of North Georgia) and was the first male student the school who was not required to participate in the military program and wear a uniform. This was because he was a veteran of the Korean War.
Hulsey started work at North Georgia as an accountant while still attending college. He rose to the position of Financial Aid Director where he served for 30 year until retirement. He was a lifelong resident of Hall County and served one term on the Hall County Board of Education.
The funeral will be at 2:00 Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Washington Street.
