VALDOSTA -– The North Georgia baseball team fell behind early Saturday evening and was unable to recover despite five errors by Palm Beach Atlantic University which claimed Saturday's Comfort Suites Classic game 7-2.
Shortstop Edwin Arias led the way at the plate for North Georgia with a 2-4 performance as the Saints combined to record seven hits.
Palm Beach Atlantic put up four runs in the second inning off three hits that included a double by Ethan Perla that scored Anthony Ortiz, Spencer Castro and Karl Kapinos. Ryan Gerber then knocked a single to score Perla and set the score at 4-0.
The Sailfish added another run in the fourth frame before the Saints were able to get two runs back in the bottom of the fifth.
Andres Lopez claimed his first win of the season on the mound for the Sailfish as he struck out six batters in five innings of work. Jacob Beauchamp accepted the loss for North Georgia after striking out seven batters in four innings on the mound.
The Saints will wrap up their time in the Comfort Suites Classic on Sunday with a 3 p.m. game against tournament host Valdosta State.
