Boys basketball: Lakeview keeps pace with Athens Christian

GAINESVILLE – The Lakeview Academy boys stayed within one-half game of first place in Region 8-A after routing Towns County 73-34 Friday night at home.

The Lions (15-6, 9-2 Region 8-A) trail Athens Christian (16-3, 9-1) in the standings with two region games left. Lakeview Academy will travel to Athens Christian next Thursday in the season finale with the top spot in the region tournament on the line.

Austin Montgomery led 12 Lakeview players in scoring with 22 points. Zach Montgomery added nine for the Lions.

Boone Moss paced Towns County with 10 points.
