Boys basketball: Lumpkin earns first victory since Dec. 7

DAHLONEGA -- On senior night, the Lumpkin County boys basketball team gave its upperclassmen a moment to savor, as the Indians edged Walnut Grove 46-45 on Friday in Dahlonega.

It was the Indians (4-20, 1-6 Region 8-AAAA) first win since Dec. 7.

Lumpkin County jumped out to a 23-15 first half lead and held on down the stretch.

Senior Evan Gaddis led the Indians with a game-high 12 points, while Daniel McCrary and Malik Anderson each added nine points.

Tyreek Jones and Adrian Price each scored 11 for Walnut Grove.

Lumpkin County travels to face Stephens County on Saturday.
