Entries sought for substance abuse prevention contest
GAINESVILLE - The Drug Free Coalition of Hall County has launched its second annual Face it…Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Video Contest.
The contest is open to individual students or groups (of up to 5) in middle school, grades 6 - 8 or high school grades, 9 - 12. Students are encouraged to create innovative and effective substance abuse prevention video messages to their peers and the greater Hall County community. Videos must emphasize one or more of the four substances of Coalition focus: alcohol; tobacco; marijuana; and prescription drug abuse. Submitted videos are to be no longer than two minutes and address one or both of the following topics:
1. The Best Me Is Drug Free
2. Living Above The Influence of Drugs and Alcohol
Contestants should post their videoes on YouTube, using their own YouTube account, and email that link to email@example.com. Deadline for submissions is February 15.
Complete guidelines and forms needed to enter the 2013 Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Video Contest are posted to the Coalition’s website (www.faceitpeople.org). Interested youth can download the guidelines, Parental Media Release form, and the Video Information form.
To be eligible for entry in the contest all participating youth need to individually submit a Parental Media Release. The Video Information form must be completed for each group or individual video submission. Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place videos of middle and high school students. First place winners will receive a $100 Best Buy gift card, and second place winners will receive an Insignia 10 megapixels digital camera.
All submitted videos will be reviewed by a group of University of Georgia and University of North Georgia Students. The university students will narrow the entries to the top ten from middle school and high school students. A celebrity panel of judges will next select the top five videos from each of the middle and high school categories.
The top five middle and high school videos will be posted on the Coalition’s website (faceitpeople.org) for community viewing and voting. Community voting, to determine the first and second place middle and high schools videos, will take place via the website between March 4 and 8. The top ten videos and the first and second place winners will be announced at a red carpet event on March 26.
