Noon hour fire damages Gainesville houseBy Derreck Booth Editor GAINESVILLE - Gainesville firefighters battled a house fire shortly before 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
According to Gainesville Fire Chief Jerome Yarbrough, it happened in the 400 block of Piedmont Avenue. The single-family home is between Piedmont Place and Brookhaven Court. The blaze broke out in the basement according to Yarbrough. "The fire was contained to one room with heat and smoke damage throughout the home," Yarbrough said. "There were no injuries on this fire.
