BRASELTON - A house fire in Braselton Friday afternoon sent a man to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

According to Jackson County emergency officials, they got the call around 2:15 p.m. at 515 Chardonnay Trace.

Units from West Jackson, North Jackson, and the Jackson County Correctional Institute Fire Departments responded to tackle the blaze in a single story house.

Firefighters estimate fire was showing from about 40 percent of the structure.

"I would imagine with 40 percent fire involvement, even with the quick knock-down that they did, I'm expecting it to be listed as either heavily damaged or totally damaged," Jackson County Emergency Management Agency Director Steve Nichols said.

The male occupant was taken to hospital in stable condition.

"He was asleep in the bedroom. He was awakened by the fire. He did receive second degree burns to both arms, minor burns, I don't believe there's anything serious with them," Nichols said.

No other injuries were reported.

The West Jackson Fire Department and Georgia Fire Marshall's Office were looking for the cause.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the family. According to Nichols, the fire displaced four adults and one child.
