GAINESVILLE - A female pedestrian was not injured when a male suspect robbed her of her purse on a Gainesville street Friday afternoon.

According to Police Corporal Kevin Holbrook, it happened around 3:30 p.m. on Central Avenue near Hazel Street.

"A female victim advised a male suspect approached her from behind, possibly brandished a weapon and demanded her purse," Holbrook said.

"The female victim did comply."

Police did set up a perimeter and used a search dog, but the suspect did get away. Authorities continue to investigate.

The only suspect description is of a Hispanic or white man, wearing jeans and a black shirt.
