HOMER – It took nearly five years, but arrests have been made in connection with the 2008 robbery of Northeast Georgia Bank at Banks Crossing.
Darris Antoine Workman, 39, of Greensboro, N.C., now is housed in the Banks County Jail charged with robbery.
“The arrest stems from a bank robbery that occurred on April 24, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Bank, 30990 Hwy. 441 S., Commerce,” said Banks County Sheriff Carlton Speed.
Speed said the arrest warrant on Workman was taken by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
“Banks County picked Workman up in Greensboro, N.C., where he had been arrested on this charge,” Speed said.
“Workman was the driver of the vehicle used in the armed robbery. He drove the vehicle to and from the robbery location.”
Speed learned Monday afternoon that another man facing charges in the Banks County robbery is in federal prison.
It may be a while before that man, also from Greensboro, N.C., answers to the Banks County charges.
“We do have outstanding warrants for his arrest as well,” Speed said. “He is in federal custody for similar crimes – for other armed robberies.”
