Man cleaning weapon suffers accidental gunshot

FLOWERY BRANCH - A 20 year old Hall County man suffered an accidental gunshot to the stomach late Monday morning.

According to Hall County Sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks, it happened in the 6500 block of Secret Cove Court in south Hall.

"He was in the process of disassembling it prior to cleaning it. The handgun discharged a single time," Wilbanks said.

Wilbanks didn't immediatly know the man's condition.

"The subject was conscious and alert when deputies and paramedics arrived," Wilbanks said.

The incident happened shortly before 12:00 p.m.
