CUMMING - The National Weather Service Thursday afternoon issued a flood warning for the Big Creek near Cumming.

There's no cut-off yet for the expiration. Forecasters said the creek was at 5.7 feet at 3:30 p.m. Thursday and rising. Flood stage is 6 feet. Crest was expected Thursday evening at 6.5 feet.

The weather service indicated large portions of the sidewalk and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway will begin to flood. Areas under the Georgia 400 and McFarland Road were expected to be covered with about a foot of water.

A portion of the sidewalk under Majors Road was also expected to be covered with around two to three feet of water, according to the weather service.
