DAHLONEGA – The Chestatee girls opened their Region 8B-AAAA schedule with a 53-32 thumping of Lumpkin County on the road Tuesday night.
The Lady War Eagles (9-1, 1-0 in subregion) used a 14-4 second quarter to blow open a close game for a 27-13 halftime lead.
Maegan Kenimer had 12 points and Erin Clifford 11 points, including three 3-pointers, for Chestatee. Danielle Stephens and Sam Brown had six points each for the Lady War Eagles.
Dakota Sullens led the Lady Indians with 10 points. Morgan Wood had nine points and Lacey Robinson scored eight points and pulled down eight rebounds for Lumpkin County.
It was the eighth straight win for Chestatee, which next will take on rival North Hall on Thursday at Gainesville High in the semifinals of the Lanierland Tournament.
Lumpkin County (2-9, 0-1) is off until Dec. 27 when the Lady Indians will take on Westminster in the Westminster Tournament.
Chestatee outscored Lumpkin 26-18 in the second half to put the game out of reach.
