GHS student named Junior League's Belle of the Ball

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville-Hall County Junior League crowned the 2012 Belle of the Ball at the League's 61st Annual Charity Ball Saturday night.

Six local civic groups sponsored belle candidates for this year's Charity Ball, which serves as one of the Junior League's major fundraisers.

Hartley Carter, a senior at Gainesville High School, raised the most money on behalf of the League, earning herself this year's crown as a result. Carter was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville.

Proceeds from the event allow the volunteer organization to continue supporting projects and agencies aimed at making the Gainesville-Hall County area a better place for families.
