GSC schedules final graduation
GAINESVILLE - Gainesville State College's (GSC) final graduation ceremonies will be held Saturday with the planned merger with North Georgia College & State University (NGCSU) just weeks away.
Graduation candidates from the School of Business, Education, Health and Wellness will participate in a 10:00 ceremony and those from the School of Humanities and Fine Arts, School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and School of Social Sciences in a ceremony at 2:00.
A total of 507 Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science, Associate of Arts, Associate of Science or Associate of Applied Science and Certificate candidates are eligible to participate in the ceremony. Students from both the Gainesville and Oconee Campuses will graduate.
This will be the final graduation under the name of Gainesville State College. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia elected early this year to consolidate Gainesville State College and North Georgia College & State University, one of several such mergers involving public colleges and universities around the state. The consolidation is expected to become effective in January. The name of the consolidated school will be University of North Georgia.
