MT. AIRY - One person was airlifted and seven others were taken by ground ambulance after a mini-van wreck near Habersham Central High School Tuesday night.

Trooper 1st Class Aaron Church said the Honda Odyssey mini-van left Camp Creek Road and struck some trees and a fence just west of Habersham Central High School.

Church said the van had seven seats and eight occupants, including several children.

Ambulances from Habersham and Stephens counties transported seven of the injured, while an AirLife Georgia helicopter picked up the most seriously hurt individual from the campus of Habersham Central High School.

Both Habersham County Fire Department Station 14 (Glade Creek) and Clarkesville Fire Department also responded to the wreck.

Additional details of the wreck and those involved were not immediately available at the scene.

Camp Creek Road was closed for a time following the wreck, which occurred shortly before 8 p.m.
