Girls basketball: Union County fends off Hiwassee Dam

BLAIRSVILLE -- The Union County girls basketball team fended off Hiwassee Dam 55-52 on Tuesday in the Glenda Gooch Foundation Tip-Off Tournament in Blairsville.

Sophomore Brooke Maddox paced the Lady Panthers with 20 points in just her second varsity game. Hannah Hughes also scored 14 points.
