CUMMING - An Alpharetta man is charged with driving under the influence after a pedestrian was hit and killed by his van in Forsyth County.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, 44 year old Felix Escorcia of Alpharetta died Friday evening after being hit by the van on Georgia Highway 9 as he was crossing the road. Escorcia was taken to North Fulton Hospital where he died.

The van driver, 48 year old Michael Dean Masi, was arrested that night.

"Mr. Masi has been charged with driving under the influence. The crash remains under investigation. It is a possibility that further charges could be filed following the investigation," Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Karleen Chalker said.

"He was released around midnight on a $3850 bond. He is scheduled to appear in state court on February 1, 2013," Chalker said.

Escorcia lived near where the incident happened, at Pine Ridge Mobile Home Park. The two men where the only ones involved in the incident.
