Two arrested following road check in Elbert County

ELBERTON – Two people were arrested on drug charges during a license checkpoint in Elbert County on Nov. 9.
According to the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, the checkpoint was being held on Georgia Highway 368 at Harmony Road. Deputies observed a small sedan approached the checkpoint from the eastbound lane.
As the vehicle approached, it was observed to travel across the center line before stopping at the checkpoint, a press release from the sheriff’s office states.
Deputies made contact with the driver, whom they suspected was under the influence of illegal substances, the release states. Upon further investigation, numerous bags of marijuana were located in the vehicle, along with scales and packaging material and evidence of distribution.
The vehicle’s occupants were arrested and taken to the Elbert County Detention Center.
Those arrested included:
• Aaron James Miller, 25, of Stockbridge, charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of tools for commission of a crime, driving under the influence of drugs, failure to maintain lane, and failure to report address change, detention center records show.
• Eva Lynn Cabrera, 17, of Stockbridge, charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of tools for commission of a crime, detention center records show.
