Cornwell sworn in as attorney

CLARKESVILLE – On Nov. 5, Katherine S. "Kate" Cornwell became Georgia's newest attorney.
She was sworn in by her father, retired Mountain Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Jim Cornwell in a packed courtroom at the Habersham County Courthouse in Clarkesville.
Born May 16, 1987, in Stephens County, she lived in Toccoa and then Clarkesville before going to boarding school in 2001.
She graduated cum laude from Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H., in 2001. She graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2008, and from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2012.
She passed the Georgia Bar Exam in 2012 and is an attorney for Warner, Bates McGough & McGinnis in Atlanta.
