DANIELSVILLE – Chestatee rushed for 365 yards and totaled more than 500 for the game in a 48-7 rout of Madison County Friday in both teams’ regular season finale.
The War Eagles (8-2, 6-1 in Region 8-AAAA) will be back in action next week playing host to their first-ever home playoff game.
Chestatee jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter on a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs by Jordan DeGraff. The first score was set up when the War Eagles recovered an onside kick to start the game.
Madison County (1-9, 1-6) closed the gap to 13-7 on a 66-yard pass from Malik Freeman to Garrison Harris but Chestatee pushed the lead to 27-7 by halftime and two second quarter touchdowns, a 6-yard run by DeGraff and a 14-yard run by Brandon Thompson.
The War Eagles got going early in the third quarter on DeGraff’s fourth rushing TD of the game and then made it 41-7 on a 6-yard run by Tray Bryant. Tyler Burgess finished the scoring for Chestatee on a 5-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
DeGraff finished 8-for-10 passing with 152 yards.
Chestatee held Madison County to just 17 yards on 28 carries.
