STATESBORO -- Jamal Jackson threw for 383 yards as Appalachian State beat Georgia Southern 31-28 Saturday.

Georgia Southern held the longest active home-win streak in the Football Championship Subdivision and had won six-straight Southern Conference games before today.

Georgia Southern (7-2, 6-2) took a 28-24 lead behind Ezayi Youyoute's third quarter touchdown run. But Jackson's third touchdown pass of the day, a 23-yarder to Tony Washington in the fourth quarter, gave Appalachian State (7-3, 4-2) the lead for good.

Five of the last six Appalachian State-Georgia Southern duels have been decided by seven points or less.

Jackson has 10-consecutive games with at least 200 yards passing and has never completed less than half of his passes as a starter.

Appalachian State's Sean Price, who caught seven passes for 231 yards, entered ranked second in the Southern Conference and led all NCAA Division I FCS freshman in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown receptions.
