TALMO - State Troopers said it was a Gainesville woman killed in a Jackson County traffic accident that resulted in vehicular homicide charges against a Gillsville man.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, 42 year old Maria Escanuela was headed north on Highway 129 when a southbound SUV crossed the centerline and hit her car head on in Talmo.

Troopers said the other driver, 21 year old Craig Love, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He has since been discharged.

Love is charged with first degree vehicular homicide, DUI, open container, failing to maintain lane, driving on the wrong side of the road, and a seat belt violation, according to the patrol.

The early morning wreck blocked traffic for hours Thursday.
