GAINESVILLE - Riverside Military Academy will host a noted Civil War hostorian Tuesday, who will discuss a typical soldier's life during the Civil War.

The presentation begins at 11:30 in the Sandy Beaver Center Auditorium.

Brad Quinlin will be wearing period attire as during the discussion.

Quinlin has worked on the sets of several well-known Civil War movies and advised for Civil War documentaries as well as the NBC-TV series "Who Do You Think You Are?", in which he showed actor Matthew Broderick the last three days of his great grandfather’s life during the Atlanta Campaign of the Civil War.

He has published three books including “Rest Brave Comrades, Your Work is Done: Letters from the Marietta National Cemetery,” “On the Line of Bacon Creek” and his latest book “Duty Well Performed: The Civil War History of the 21st Ohio.” He also worked on the new Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield film as the historical researcher and consultant and has been asked to work on a new PBS documentary on the Civil War. His new book about the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain is titled “In the Shadow of a Grim and Silent Kennesaw” and will be out this fall.

Quinlin is currently working on a project for the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield to identify every soldier that was on the battlefield in that hot summer of 1864. A project in progress for the Military Channel is called “Generations Beyond the Glory” and is based on his research of the Marietta National Cemetery. He has identified 48 unknown graves from the American Civil War in the Marietta National Cemetery and the only known grave at the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield. In cooperation with the Marietta Museum of History he is now working on unknown Confederate soldiers buried in the Marietta Confederate Cemetery.
